ABOUT DR. CYNTHIA HEY
Overview
Dr. Cynthia Hey is a low-force specialty chiropractor, who has been helping patients for over 25 years. Her gentle treatments are both pain relieving and relaxing. She adjusts your spine and extremities with the low-force, highly precise Activator instrument, which improves joint motion and reduces joint and nerve pain. For central nervous system rebalancing, she lightly manipulates cranial sutures as needed, either by hand, or with the Activator instrument. Additionally, she soothes your muscle knots and spasms using various massage and myofascial release techniques. She is also a Certified Fitness Trainer, and recommends exercises for enhancing musculoskeletal stability and postural alignment.
Background and Current Endeavors
Cynthia was first introduced to chiropractic care when she was in high school, because she was experiencing daily headaches. Her parents were already visiting a low-force Activator Methods chiropractor for back and neck pain, and the doctor suggested that he examine Cynthia, too. It turned out that misalignments in some of her neck vertebrae were irritating nerves, causing referred pain into her head. After a brief series of Activator adjustments, her headaches were gone. Thereafter, she decided she would love to provide similar relief for her own patients in the future.
In 1999, she graduated from New York Chiropractic College as Salutatorian of her class, and was selected for the prestigious Clinic Award, for outstanding patient care at the Levittown Chiropractic Clinic. To more expertly advise her patients in supportive exercise regimens, Dr. Hey also earned and has maintained a fitness training certification since 2003.
Previously, Dr. Hey was employed in multidisciplinary group practices, where appointment time slots were shorter. Currently, she appreciates the freedom of practicing independently, where she books longer, more comprehensive visits, so she is able to delve deeply into the nuances of her patients' conditions. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays she sees patients inside IStretchPlus, in Huntington. On Tuesdays and Fridays she sees a few home-based chiropractic patients.
Dr. Hey is an author as well. Her newest book, Soft Health: A handbook for those who aren’t motivated by killer workouts and strict diets, shares her favorite tips for physical and mental wellbeing. Back in 2012, she released her fantasy/sci-fi/horror novel, Stanlin & Sylvia. Both books are available on Amazon.com. Additionally, Dr. Hey published a professional article, "Complementing Chiropractic Philosophy with Science," in the peer-reviewed Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research. (For more detail on all of these works, click the “Publications” tab above.) Balancing patient care with quiet writing time has boosted her professional fulfilment throughout her career. She would be so happy to help you with hands-on treatment, or through her publications, or both.
